Welcome to

FTKC

Together, we create a safe space where every voice is heard, every heart is understood, and every child is valued.

FTKC is for the kids – but also for the kids inside all of us.

Who are you?

I’m Jalesia, known to most as Jah. I was born and raised on the west side of Chicago, 290 through and through. I’m also a wife, daughter, sister, TT, friend, mentor, therapist, advocate, and a change-maker.

What’s my purpose?

After I left the Navy in 2017, I knew I wanted to go to school for psychology but didn’t have a clear direction. So I asked my sister, who knows me better than anyone else outside of my wife, to point out my natural gift for connecting with people, particularly kids. I read somewhere once to ask someone else what they see in you because it may be an AHHHH moment. I took that and ran with it. Throughout my undergrad and grad school years, I worked predominantly with underserved children. I’ve been nonstop for the past 7 years, giving back through connecting, healing, and teaching. So what is my purpose? My purpose is to increase our community's emotional intelligence through education, understanding, kindness, and love.

Who are you serving?

FTKC serves the community that supports and is willing to be vulnerable with and for the kids. FTKC mission is to help bridge the emotional disconnection/understanding between generations. People truly do not understand the power of communication within a community. A community is the people and places that make you feel seen and heard. A place of emotional safety and vulnerability.

What are you bringing?

FTKC is for the kids—a space where generations can be themselves without judgment. It's a safe space. It's a space where youth can feel understood. It’s a personal experience. Here, everyone experiences the feeling of being cared for. It's a space for unity and community. A place where adults can seek out understanding. With understanding comes patience. Our youth need patience.

What I have learned is that , when it comes to regulating your emotions and reactions as an adult, you can better understand what the kids you are sharing space with need. You can truly hear them, not just listen to confirm your expectations.

It's not a singular duty; it's the duty of a village. It takes a community to help raise and guide our youth, especially amidst a multitude of distractions.

As adults, we also face one of the most challenging tasks: not taking things personally. This is one of the hardest responses to control, but one of the most necessary in order to lead by example. FTKC is an experience. It's an experience that takes many forms, with the foundation serving as an emotional grounding space.

FTKC is for the kids – but also for the kids inside all of us.

For The Collective

For The Collective (FTC), tailored to adults, it serves as a sanctuary for self-exploration and growth. It's a space where adults can delve into their own inner child, gain self-understanding and cultivate emotional resilience.

Here, adults find support, understanding, and tools to navigate their own emotional landscapes while also contributing to the well-being of the younger generation. It's a place where adults rediscover the importance of empathy, vulnerability, and interconnectedness, fostering a community where everyone, regardless of age, feels valued and empowered to thrive.
